Top Spur to the Timberline Trail on Mt. Hood. A great hike in spite of the crazy, wet weather! It was raining down low and snowing up high. We were socked in with the fog, had no view of the mountain, and our muddy trail eventually disappeared under several feet of snow. We lost the route we were on and ended up playing around on a snowfield far below our desired destination - we simply were not going to make it up there. David was able to try out his crampons, which we will need on St. Helens, but I didn't have mine with me. I didn't expect to encounter this much snow. After falling and sliding down into two different tree wells (nothing major or life threatening), I decided to stay put and let him have his fun! It was snowing and beautiful up there!
This was our last training hike before we climb St. Helens next Tuesday. Time to rest for three days and get excited! Woohoo!
