We started hiking at 6:30 p.m. knowing we would reach the summit before dark. Watching the sunset over the Gorge is always beautiful! We had perfect weather up until we left the trees about two-thirds of the way up. The clouds became very moody and quickly soaked us with rain! Then as fast as the storm had arrived... it left. We ate at the summit and saw a tiny bit of the sunset as we watched more clouds barreling towards us. It can be really windy up there and the clouds move fast! We finished up and headed back down the trail just as the clouds socked us in again. Luckily it wasn't raining, just a lot of wind. Once we reached the trees there was a noticeable change in temperature (a lot warmer) almost immediately. Off came the winter coats and the rest of the way down was dark, dry and enjoyable. :)
I'm so happy to have been able to get back out there on Dog Mountain! ❤❤❤
