Siouxon Trail

After two weeks of not hiking, I returned today to an 11.12 mile hike on the Siouxon Trail near Cougar, Washington. I've hiked portions of this trail before and really like it. The trail is mostly within the trees... cool even on a hot day like today. The trail is wide and tame (lots of children and dogs on this one), although you do have to climb out of it at the end. ;) We hiked to an area many people use as their turnaround point which was our plan too but because we all felt good and energetic, we decided to go further in search of another waterfall. The trail narrowed and went up in elevation. We eventually came upon a waterfall and found a great place along the river to sit and have lunch. It was beautiful! In fact, there was beauty all along this trail (really, when isn't it beautiful??)! I had a great day with three wonderful women and really look forward to hiking with them again soon.  11.12 miles; 2439 feet of elevation gain.
