Near Archer Mountain in the Gorge

Another great hike in the Columbia River Gorge with my hiking buddy David - this one near Archer Mountain. An uphill rocky, rooty climb, rock scrambling, and a spectacular view! We went further up into the forest after the viewpoint where we found another great view (through the trees) and had lunch in the middle of the trail braced against a tree because it was that steep. Instead of going back the way we came (it looked too scary! haha) we decided to climb further up in hopes of doing a loop back to the main trail. as it turned out, high adventure was in order as we had to bushwhack our way through the forest (using our GPS), passed a very fresh pile of bear poo, used a steep downhill animal trail, and thankfully found our way back to the main trail. Quite the excursion! Overall, it was a fantastic adventure and great day, even with the multiple wasp stings! ;)
